Challenge Accepted: Floral Bomber Jacket and Faux Pixie Cut OOTD

Confession: I actually really do not like floral, generally speaking. But I love bomber jackets, and very light layers. Recently I’ve been enjoying attempting to adapt trends that I don’t really care for into something that I actually like (for example – I did my own version of glitter roots at Christmas). Its a way for me to try something a little different, push myself out of my style bubble and, hopefully, stave off the sense of “nothing the kids are doing is good!” that can set in as one gets old and jaded. I think its because I love the structure of the garment so much, and that the print is right in my color scheme, but I love this jacket and don’t even judge it for being floral. Recently I saw Anna Love Life’s call for submissions for her upcoming “Challenge Accepted” feature – the first theme for style was “floral”… so of course I thought of this jacket. (Also.. I’m four months pregnant – not yet looking clearly, pleasingly pregnant but also not fitting into any of my pre-existing pants – so trying to put together an outfit I feel good about is always a challenge right now.)

Outfit is:

Jolt floral bomber jacket

Socialite satin shorts

Ro & Dee shirt

Rebecca Minkoff bag

Teva flatforms (prob one of my best purchases ever; constantly in my outfit pictures..)

Necklace from Nasty Gal

Hair is a faux pixie. That’s my grown out side shave slicked forward, and the rest is coiled around and pinned in back. I don’t know if I’ll ever get it to work again, but it worked that one time. (Short pieces at the nape are my out-of-control undercut that needs redone.)

Location is 15th Street, Plano, TX.

Love the short hair, so much easier to deal with. Great look altogether!

Thanks! This is actually faked short hair, my hair is not that long though, about chin length. Makes me almost want to just cut it though!

Congratulation for being pregnant, you definitely don’t look like that yet. Do you know if it’s a boy or a girl already?
As for floral outfit, I see that you look great in it, and that makes me think again (I avoid floral stuff), maybe I should try floral something this summer, a blouse, maybe a blouse or a dress. Or a skirt?

Thank you! It’s a girl. (So I’m bracing for the likely influx of pink gifts, ECT…)
I think what makes me comfortable with this floral is the colors, and niether the print nor the garment is overly delicate or frilly (which just isn’t me.) If you try something that is with in what works for you in cut and color palette, maybe you’ll like a floral. (And hey, if you don’t.. you can always know that you gave it a shot, and sell the item on Poshmark.)
