Thom took Meeka to the vet Monday, and found at she is not a surgery candidate. She is not bad enough at this time, which is good. She does need to take steroids, pain killers, and muscle relaxers, and rest in her cage for a month. She can’t walk or play or do anything. She has to be carried out to go to the bathroom. However, she’s pretty lucky I guess, because she can feel her toes still, and has normal bathroom function.

Since then, taking care of her has been more labor intensive than normal. She needs medicine three times a day, and has to eat in her cage. We’ve been staying home to keep her company a lot too, since she can’t do anything. Meeka herself still doesn’t think anything is wrong with her. She grumbles at the indignity of being carried and clearly wants to get out and play. But we really don’t want her to need surgery, so we are being strict about not letting her out. I do carry her cage up so she can watch tv though.
